Dr Prem Kumar Shanmugam adalah CEO dan Clinical Director untuk Solace Sabah Addiction Retreat. Beliau mempunyai pengalaman melebihi 10 tahun dalam bidang ketagihan dan psychology.
Prem adalah bekas President untuk Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (Singapore) dan Regional Director untuk Asia Pacific Certification Board (Singapore) dan juga antara ahli awa pertubuhan ini. Prem adalah seorang psychologist, psychotherapist, pendidik, facilitator and giat dalan bidang kajian ketagihan. Dia mempunyai pengalaman berkerja dengan golongan masyrakat yang berbeza budaya yang mengadapi perlbagai masalah ketagihan.
Prem mempunyai kepakaran untuk membentuk dan memberi evaluasi tentang program ketagihan substance dan kumpulan. Dia mempunyai pengetahuan luas tentang masalah pasangan, kauseling perkahwinan dan masalah interpersonal. Prem adalah certified practitioner dari Management of Family Violence Counseling dari Kerajaan Malaysia.
Prem sering menulis ulasan dan berhujah di sidang ketagihan antarabangsa.
Prem telah menulis 2 buku rujukan untuk pelajar Masters dalang bidang kaunselling di UK dan utuk kegunaan program di Solace.
Chris Sekhar is the Clinical Director of Solace Sabah, Kuala Lumpur. He has more than 30 years of counseling experience ranging from substance and behaviour addiction abuse to family issues.
His qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from De La Salle University, a Bachelor of Theology degree from Malaysia Bible Seminary, and is a Certified Addiction Therapist (CSAT) from the Asia Pacific Certification Board. Chris currently has a Master (Level 4) in Addiction Therapy and is the former President of the Asia Pacific Certification Board (M).
With a very positive disposition, Chris seeks to integrate the various theories of change with experiential truths. He applies his knowledge of the various models of recovery to meet the patients’ particular needs. Hence, Chris is eclectic in his approach to treatment management. His own recovery from drug addiction of ten years enables him to understand the peculiarities of the addiction world. He has been drug free for 35 years.
Chris also lectures on Addiction Counseling/Intervention on a regular basis for two higher learning institutions.
He is married to Rachel Ng and has two adult sons.
Nathan is a certified social worker who has been working in the addiction recovery field as a group facilitator, mentor, and speaker in addiction facilities and halfway houses from Singapore.
Nathan has been facilitating programs like, Introduction to the 12 Steps, Emotion management programs, Relapse prevention programs provided by Wecare community services to both in-house and halfway houses.
During his services as an operations executive at Wecare community services, has learned about the different aspects of addiction and the harm it causes to families.
Spiritually awakened together with a personal brush with addiction, Nathan is determined to help souls from this dreadful disease of addiction.
An avid supporter for the yellow ribbon route to acceptance, Nathan also does volunteering services in social sectors.
A trained First Aider, he spends his time Mountain trailing, Fishing and is inspired by nature.
Dr. Subash Kumar Pillai is currently an Associate Professor and Consultant Psychiatrist at University Malaya Medical Center. He has been an academic staff at the faculty since 2005.
His main area of interest is in early psychosis and he is currently the head of the ADVANCE clinic which caters for adolescents and children with affective disorders and schizophrenia. He is also head and Coordinator of CERIA programme which is a wellness programme for families. He is also the adviser of the Asperger’s family support group which helps to address families and educators about the condition.
Professor Subash is also the Coordinator of the TEACH project and a Member of International Society for Bipolar Disorder and a member of the International Society of Early Psychosis.
Associate Professor Dato' Dr Andrew Mohanraj Chandrasekaran MBBS (Calicut); MPM (Malaya); Fellowship in Community Psychiatry (Melbourne); AM (Malaysia); IARC Psych (UK), served the Ministry of Health Malaysia for 10 years before taking up an international assignment after the Asian Tsunami of 2004. He has done pioneering work in the establishment of sustainable psychosocial rehabilitation and community mental health services in Indonesia, the Philippines and Timor Leste. He actively advocates for the mainstreaming of persons with chronic mental illness through the Malaysian Mental Health Association of which he is the Deputy President.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mahmood Nazar Mohamed is the Professor of Psychology at CUCMS, a prestigious Malaysian university. He has also published many scientific papers - which can be read here: http://repo.uum.edu.my/profile/mahmood. He is also a regular speaker in all Psychological Conferences in Malaysia and Asia.
Dr. Abdul Rasyid Sulaiman obtained his medical degree from Manipal, India. He then continued his specialisation in Psychiatry and obtained his Masters in Psychological Medicine from University Malaya. He has a very keen interest in Drugs and Addiction related problems whereby he has carried out various research in the field of substance use disorder including Alcohol, Amphetamines, Opioids among others. While his tenure as a specialist trainee in University Malaya, he was also affiliated to University Malaya Centre for Addiction Sciences (UMCAS) whereby major research in the field of drugs and addiction was ongoing. Dr. Rasyid Sulaiman also has special interest in disorders closely related to substance use disorder such as mood disorders as well as anxiety disorders. Dr. Rasyid Sulaiman is currently a member of the Addiction Medicine Association of Malaysia. He is also actively involved in writing guidelines for Amphetamine Use Disorder in Malaysia.
Dr Gurdeep S Grewal is a practicing medical doctor and Psychiatrist. He has more than ten years of experience working in the area of psychological health and has worked in major mental health facilities around the country.
He is passionate about the promotion of psychological wellbeing and prevention of mental illnesses and has conducted courses for various organizations, including within the civil service and for NGO’s. Working at the individual and organizational level, he focuses on identifying stress and coming up with solutions for preventing, minimizing and coping with stress and other psychological problems. His training workshops are highly interactive and he is a HRDF certified trainer.
His other current focus is trauma work, helping people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder using a combination of pharmacological methods and psychotherapy, specifically a method known as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Dr Grewal has also published scientific papers in international journals and has presented at international platforms, most recently at the 2016 World Psychiatric Association International Congress in South Africa. He is also the recipient of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology(JSPN) Fellowship award in 2015 and World Association of Social Psychiatry(WASP) Young Psychiatrist Fellowship Award in 2016.
He is currently lecturing at Perdana Graduate School of Medicine and practices at The Mind Faculty, Manipal Hospital and Tropicana Medical Center.
Hailing from Sabah, Malaysia, Amos has completed his Recovery Coach certification from Colombo Plan for Addiction Professional. He has experience of over 3 years of working with clients from all over the world in The Solace Sabah Retreat in Sabah and has undergone trainings for Basic Counselling, Pharmacology & Physiology, Crisis Intervention, Community Based Recovery System, Case Management, Ethics, Recovery Coach for Addiction professional. He specializes in supporting clients in their Recovery and life skills in creating a better opportunity integrating into a better society for clients.
Kavilan has a long standing interest in mental health, where he has graduated with a bachelor's degree majoring in psychology and is currently continuing his pursuit in masters in counselling. Having experiences in guiding individuals suffering from schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, ocd and more at a psychiatric rehabilitation facility for 6 years gives him the upper edge to constantly improvise and provide help for those in need. He is deeply intrigued in gaining new insights pertaining this field in order to help those who struggle with the array types of addiction.
